IAEC Education is a pioneer in overseas education consulting. With over 40 years of experience, IAEC is one of the oldest and most respected education consultants in India. Over these years, we have recruited more than 15000 students to various countries including Australia, United States, Canada, Singapore and Switzerland.
IAEC was looking for a way to better manage their student data. IAEC was storing all client information as hard copy folders and forms. There was no way to electronically report on the information or have certain events (overdue tasks or follow-ups) automatically notified to the IAEC staff. Further to that the sheer physical volume of client information was causing a large storage problem. IAEC needed an online system to manage and report on client data.
IAEC had a very basic IT infrastructure in their head office which needed to be upgraded to provide an application server and workstations for their staff. IELTS needed a secure application for staff to logon and access client data.
Shivam developed an online database driven application for IAEC’s internal use. The system collection client, staff and institute data and from that was able to trigger follow up notifications, reminders as well as generate some reports. All staff were required to logon to the system before being able to access its data. The solution was developed using Visual Studio 2008 with ASP.Net MVC 1.0 and deployed on IAECs new web server running Windows Server 2008.
Shivam used MVC on this project as it produced a lightweight, stable output that could be more easily maintained and developed. This side stepped a number of issues present in ASP.Net Web Forms solutions around the area of “View State” corruption and increased page size. User input was validated by the jQuery Validate plugin which provides a highly extensible and customisable system for validating form input.
The solution Shivam developed for IAEC was easily deployed to their new and updates can be deployed by Shivam staff remotely. IAEC staff can now gain access to client data reports and are informed or of any pending follow-ups or client events.
IAEC now has a platform that can easily be extended to provide a completely online client management system which will collect student data online and produce reports electronically.
